History
Top-level results in research and science, excellence in teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration have stood for the Technical University of Liberec since 1953. Around 7000 students study at seven faculties and one specialized institute.
Research
The north of the Czech Republic is known for textile, glass, chemical and automotive industries and for coal and uranium mining. Ever since its foundation in 1953, the Technical University in Liberec has shaped its research focus on the needs of these industries, strong ties to the local companies and their impact on the local environment and ecology.

Our Halls of Residence in Harcov (Liberec) were the winner of the The Best University Halls of the Year Award in years 2014, 2013 and 2011.
International students are guaranteed accommodation in the university's Halls of Residence.
Advantages of living in Harcov:

ICT services
At the Technical University of Liberec all study records about each study programme, subject, timetable events, study results, etc. are recorded in the information system called STAG. Make sure to keep your access data obtained from the Study Department in a safe place so that you can read information about test dates you are to register for, assessment for your tests and examinations and so on.
Medical services
The University Health Care Centre is located at the campus Husova, near the Dining Hall in the building marked F. International students and staff are advised to ask a Czech speaking person for assistance when going to visit the physician for the first time. Don't forget to take your insurance card with you!
Campus life
The Czech Republic is located in Central Europe. It is surrounded by Germany to the northwest, Poland to the northeast, Slovakia to the southeast and Austria to the south. It has no coastline. The Czech Republic consists of three main parts: Czech Lands (or Bohemia) to the west, Moravia to the southeast and Silesia to the northeast. The capital, Prague, is located slightly to the northwest. The Technical University in Liberec is about 100 kilometres to the north of Prague.
Sports facilities
Academic Sports Centre of the TUL (Na Bohdalci 715, 460 15 Liberec, near the Halls of Residence) offers: tennis courts, beach volleyball, mini-golf courts, sauna, climbing centre, football pitch, outdoor stadium, etc. In the gym you can play badminton, basketball and floorball. In the fitness suite there is equipment which will enable clients to get the sport results they expect.
The Technical University is one of the 56 accredited University members of IGIP.
