Estonian Business School

Estonian Business School (EBS) is the oldest privately owned business university in the Baltics. With more than 1500 students, EBS’s goal is to provide enterprising people with academic knowledge, skills and values for its successful implementation.

History

When EBS was founded in 1988, it was the first institution in Estonia to introduce diploma business education. Since business administration did not exist in soviet universities, there was no teaching tradition, no faculty and no textbooks: a difficult starting position. 

Education

With more than 1500 students and international faculty, EBS’s goal is to provide enterprising people with academic knowledge, skills and values for its successful implementation. EBS teaches entrepreneurship and business administration in a practical manner at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels.

Research

The aim of research at EBS is to contribute to the international knowledge base of management and create conditions for its introduction in business and public institutions, but also improve training for the management of such organizations.

The sub-topics for research are:

  • Development of Organisations and Management of Change
  • Innovative Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Transfer in International Networks
  • Development of Public Administration Organizations and their Legal Framework. Application of Experience in New Democracies
  • Institutional Economics
  • Social Responsibility and Ethical Values of Organizations
  • Intelligent IT Systems in Public and Private Organizations

Career

The Career Centre at the Estonian Business School was founded in early 2000 within EBS Student Government. The service has been focused on final-year students as well as undergraduates, basically, on all those who want to prepare for the job market in good time.

The Career Service organizes various forms of activities within the following areas:

  • counselling related to academic and personal problems
  • career counselling
  • academic and life skills development (such as communication, social and stress coping skills, as well as learning strategies and time management skills).

Student services

The EBS Student Council and its International Club organise diverse programmes for international students both inside and outside the classroom, all of which make their stay particularly memorable. Each year such traditional events as the Welcome Party, EBS Golf tournament and Tallinn Student Days are a part of every EBS international students calendar.

Library services

EBS Library is a special library, serving EBS students, lecturers, staff and the alumni of EBS. The collection is developed according to the needs of study programs and scientific directions in management, entrepreneurship, economics, marketing, finance, etc.

Medical services

If you are coming from a non-EU country, you should follow the requirements of Estonian Police and Border Guard Board and obtain a medical insurance in Estonia for the same period as your temporary residence permit is valid. It is allowed to come to Estonia with travel insurance but it is required that students gets the health insurance in Estonia.

  • In September 2013 EBS received institutional accreditation and was provided with the Quality Assessment Council´s accreditation for seven years.   
  • Alongside with the accreditation, the university also received the badge of quality.
  • The international accreditation committee evaluated positively the management of EBS as an organization, the conducting of the studies, the university´s academic research and activities related to the serving of the society.
