On the occasion of its centenary, the Institut d'Optique and its partners have mobilized to publish a book illustrating the remarkable example of the dynamics between fundamental research, education and industrial innovations.
Education
The Institut d’Optique aims to bring together in one single institution all activities related to photonics: research, higher education and training, innovation, business creation, consulting and technology transfer.
Research
Institut d’Optique Graduate School helps to drive major revolutions in optics by conducting research in all fields of industry and high technologies.
- Environment: atmospheric pollution monitoring, non-destructive testing in manufacturing, low-energy lighting systems
- Transport: optical guidance systems (driverless vehicles, vehicle collision avoidance systems for increased road safety, head-up displays in windscreens or drivers' glasses)
- Food: safety and traceability
- Healthcare and biotechnologies: medical imaging (MRIs, scanners, etc.), endoscopy (diagnostic testing, medical imagery), skin laser treatments, ophthalmology and nephrology, neurosciences (e.g. biochips for certain biological tests).
Career
Institut d’Optique Graduate School is a Grande École of Engineering whose graduates go on to careers in all fields, from upstream research and marketing, to development, strategic marketing and industrial production.

Located on the site of Paris-Saclay, the library of the Institut d’Optique Graduate School is shared by the 3 components of the institution: the School, the laboratories and the direction of entrepreneurship and innovation.
Campus life
Institut d’Optique Graduate School is an institution of higher education and research located on two campuses in Palaiseau and Saint-Etienne. A third campus will be opened in Bordeaux by 2012.
