History

Izmir Institute of Technology is one of the state universities in Turkey and one that was established in 1992 with a view to offering a high level of education and carrying out research in technological fields.

Library services

Izmir Institute of Technology Library, which has a dynamic nature and is a pioneer of change, aims to support education, instruction and research programmes and to meet the needs of academics, students and other staff for every kind of information and document from the most reliable sources.

ICT services

IZTECH Library offers to access library catalogue via SirsiDynix Symphony Integrated Library System. With the Symphony system, the library can benefit from intuitive, robust technology with all the bells and whistles, a rich patron interface, and a fully adaptable, expandable and customizable platform.

Medical services

Physical health and psychological counseling services are provided on the campus. Health section operates with comprehensive services including two physicians, two dentists, three nurses, one laboratory specialist and one psychologist.

Sports facilities

The Institute aims to contribute to the physical and mental health of its students and staff by giving them a chance to spend quality time with its indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The gym, with a capacity of 2000 spectators, includes a fitness room, a dance studio and body-cardio-power development systems.

Student clubs

In the light of Atatürk’s principles and revolutions, Student Council at IZTECH, is sensitive to its environment and society and it aims not only to address the current problems but to have a say and take the initiative in the process of solving these problems, as well. In addition, the council mainly functions to:

  • Take an active part in all decision-making bodies about  issues concerning students,
  • Support decisions in favour of students,
  • Contribute to students’ scientific, cultural, social, sporting and mainly educational, activities,
  • Strive to do its best to represent the IZTECH students both within and outside the University.
