Royal Academy of Music

The Royal Academy of Music is an institution of world renown, training nearly 700 students from over 50 countries in over 20 musical disciplines. We hope our website provides a glimpse of our collective mission, character, and values — as well as imparting the special atmosphere that springs from our cosmopolitan and confident outlook.

History

The Academy was founded in 1822, and ever since has trained versatile and resourceful musicians with the skills they need in the ever-changing profession.

Research

Research at the Academy is focused on the interrogation of musical creativity. This takes many forms, but a common thread running through our work is the interaction of performers, composers, instrument makers and scholars.
