About

History

Founded in 1994 with the active support of the city of St. Petersburg, the European University began operating as an elite graduate school in the social sciences and humanities in 1996. From its inception, the mission of EUSP has been to meet the needs of Russian social development by training a new generation of teachers and scholars in the best Russian and Western traditions.

Education

EUSP is a well-known destination for students from the United States, Europe, and Asia who are interested in all aspects of Russian and Eurasian studies. Russian Federation continues to be a major political and economic world power with a rich cultural heritage. Join one of our international programs to study Russia from A to Я, learn the language, get life experience in St. Petersburg  - ‘scientific and cultural capital of Russia,’ and step ahead to your career in academia, mass media, public service or business.

Services

Student services

Student Office is a division of the Academic Affairs Office which will be governed by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

The main objective is the facilitation of interaction between the administration of the EUSP with students and graduates, and the assistance to students and graduates in their educational, academic, and professional lives, as well as in extracurricular activities.

Housing services

There is a dormitory in a walking distance from the university. Each semester there are several places available at the dormitory. You will share a room with a local student. Toilets, bathrooms, and kitchen are shared (approximately two toilets, two bathrooms and a kitchen for nine rooms). Students are expected to keep these common facilities tidy. A monthly fee for a place in the dormitory is approximately 100-150 USD. Due to a very limited number of available places, approximately five places per semester, we cannot guarantee a place for all applicants, but we will try our best to take your needs into account.

Library services

Education at the EUSPB is based on a modern academic and methodological infrastructure, above all a unique library, a model of college libraries of a modern level. The library’s holdings include around 50,000 books and periodicals; the Library offers open access to stacks. The EUSP Library holdings include also rich electronic resources, publications in audio- and video-format, and optical disks.

ICT services

All our students get an account to enter the university network. It’s not just a new e-mail address for communicating with staff, faculty, and other students. It is also a key to all our e-resources – course materials, national and international science and research databases and catalogs. Students are welcome to work anywhere in the building. Wi-Fi Internet covers the whole campus.

Medical services

All EUSP students get Health, Safety and Emergency Guidelines at the first day of their study at the University. The guidelines have been developed to provide useful health and safety information relevant to living in St. Petersburg.

Student Life

Campus life

The European University at St. Petersburg is located at the heart of the historical city center, just a stone’s throw away from the Summer Garden of Peter the Great. Situated in an eighteenth-century marble palace, EUSP is proud to offer three world-class International programs that actively encourage students to interact with the city itself. Our courses, while providing plenty of challenging debate and discussion within the classroom, also take students out of the lecture hall and into the world around them. Historical walking tours, architectural tours, and a number of other cultural and educational excursions ensure that our students come to know St. Petersburg as well as the locals.

Sports facilities

The European University offers a plethora of diverse activities for its students, with lots of different events taking place all year round. One of our most popular events is the Orientation Weekend which takes place in the second week of September. This event involves students travelling to the Russian countryside to participate in a mix of teambuilding and leisure activities under the guidance of a professional trainer. Weekend leisure activities include playing sports, picking wild blueberries, and singing songs around a campfire at the beach. At this event, students are guaranteed to make new friends and create unforgettable memories at a fantastic location.

Accreditation

EUSP degree is recognized by the majority of universities and employers in the world. All our programs have Russian State accreditation.
