A doctoral graduation is an investment into the future, because it is a requirement for many positions in academia but also in the non-academic sector. No later than shortly before the end of the doctoral studies doctoral candidates have to answer the question which professional path they will take after graduation. After the doctoral graduation a lot of career paths are open to young scientists.
