INTO Glasgow Caledonian University

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is one of the UK's top modern universities, situated in Glasgow, Scotland. The INTO Centre at the heart of campus provides unique academic pathway programmes that are designed for international students, enabling you to progress to one of GCU's many specialist degrees.

History

Glasgow Caledonian University was formed in 1993 when two well-established colleges merged together – The Queen's College, Glasgow and Glasgow Polytechnic. In 2008, GCU partnered with INTO to help international students study at the campus. Together, they created unique courses that help international students get accustomed to life in the UK and improve their English language and academic skills.

Education

If you have a dream job in mind, the University’s career-focused programmes are designed to prepare you for your future. Start with an English language course or an International Foundation, International Diploma or International Graduate Diploma in Built Environment, Business, Computing, Engineering or Science at INTO GCU, then progress to the University to study anything from Electrical Power Engineering, International Operations and Supply Chain Management and Big Data Technologies, to International Fashion Marketing, Computer Games Design and International Human Resource Management.

Research

Research is a huge part of GCU’s ethos. In 2017, they realigned their strategy around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, meaning that their research now focuses on Sustainable Environments, Inclusive Societies and Health Lives. Thanks to research conducted at GCU, the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup will see solar powered floor tiles installed in pedestrian walkways to create renewable energy from daylight.

Career

With a focus on enhancing your employability, many of GCU’s degree programmes grant the opportunity for you to take a work placement with top global companies. One international student who recently progressed from INTO GCU to study engineering at GCU got to go to Germany for a work placement with Aeronautics company, Airbus. Other fields of study outside of engineering also have the opportunity to work with global companies, including computing, health and social care, and fashion business.
