History
Linnaeus University was established in 2010 through a merger between Växjö University and University of Kalmar.

Education
The learning environment is characterized by an active student life with teaching and research staff in close proximity to our 44 000 students. At Linnaeus University, you will find a rich academic offer with nearly 50 degree programmes and 500 courses in English, on both bachelor's and master's level.
In Times Higher Education Impact Ranking (2021) Linnaeus University ranks top 100 (out of 1115 universities) in terms of quality education.
Linnaeus University is known for its strong international profile, with partner universities in more than 80 countries, most of our educational programmes includes the opportunity to study abroad. Every year more than 2,200 international students from all over the world come here to study.
Research
Linneaus University has research that is both nationally and internationally recognized. A research environment designated a Linnaeus University Centre has undergone a quality review by a special assessment panel, consisting of internationally acknowledged researchers from the field in question.

Student services
Student Welfare Office works to promote physical and psychological health for the students. They offer free individual counselling to aid the students with any problem that may make their studying or student life difficult.

As a student at Linnaeus Universtiy, you can apply for housing both on campus and off campus.
Library services
The University Library at Linnaeus University is the student’s workplace where you can find information resources, group study rooms, computer study desks, computer labs, quiet study rooms and cafes. The University Library is considered both as a physical and digital work environment. A physical, modern environment with updated recourses and comfortable surroundings.
The University library can also help you with academic writing.
ICT services
The IT Office is part of the university's administrative organisation. We ensure that the university's IT services run smoothly and match the organisation's requirements. The ofice has a co-ordinating role and works with the organisation to provide quality IT services, which are efficient and disruption-free.
Campus life
Linnaeus University has two campuses, one in Växjö and one in Kalmar.
Highly praised campus environments, positioning Linnaeus University as no 1 and no 2 in terms of campus buildings, campus environment, and nice-to-be places in the ISB (International Student Barometer) 2014. Since then, Linnaeus University also built brand new facilities in Kalmar.
At Linnaeus University nature is just around the corner, adding to a high quality of life. Växjö was once declared "The greenest city in Europe" and Kalmar is a charming medieval city, located by the Baltic Sea.

The student union at Linnaeus University – Linnaeus Union – works to ensure that you receive the best possible education, but also aims to offer enjoyable activities besides your studies. There are a number of student organisations and clubs at the university that offer a wide range of leisure activities for students.
