What you will learn:
- You’ll explore contemporary issues in the operating room environment through a combined process of reflection, critical thinking and incident analysis, looking at the interventions which promote patient safety and wellbeing throughout the surgical process.
- In addition, you'll look at human factors and the social processes by which people interact in group environments, and how these can be heavily influenced by individual and cultural personalities and behaviours.

- The module content is heavily focussed on UK-based legislation, procedures and processes and governance.
- In addition to this, a large component of assessment relates to spending a considerable amount of time in specific clinical practice areas, therefore for both these reasons it is a requirement that you are a registered member of perioperative staff working in a UK hospital for the duration of the course.
- Ideally you will be based in a surgical role practising as a registered scrub nurse/circulating nurse.
