Cambridge city life
In the university-city of Cambridge, you will find versatile opportunities to develop your social life and to spend your free time. Cambridge has a lot of clubs, pubs, cinemas, shopping malls and leisure centres. Walking and cycling are the most popular modes of transport, as a big part of the city is flat and easily accessible. Universities also organise special events for fresher international students.
While studying in Cambridge, you will have plenty of things to see and do. The city hosts collections of art galleries, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary pieces. You should take the opportunity to visit Fitzwilliam Museum, Kettle’s Yard, the Museum of Cambridge or the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Cambridge is home to some of the most beautiful churches and chapels in Britain, such as St. Peter’s Chapel, St Mary the Great university church or King’s College Chapel.
If you are interested in outdoors activities, try going out for a picnic in the many different parks of Cambridge or go on a food walking tour (which includes pubs, fish-and-chip shops, delis and specialty shops). You can also try punting on the river Cam. There is also an annual programme of events from the Film Festival and the Folk Festival to the Bumps and the Beer Festival.
Should you ever feel like changing the air, London is within easy reach of Cambridge, just a little over an hour by train or car.

Cambridge has a maritime climate, due to its closeness to the Atlantic Ocean. The months July and August have a nice average temperature and July is the driest month. Temperatures in summer reach 23°C (73°F) on average, while in the winter they get to 1°C (34°F) on average, with January being the coldest month.
