Life
Winnipeg city life
Winnipeg’s city life and culture are two of the central points that attract visitors. The Cultural Capital of Canada, as it was named in 2010, has 26 of the national historic sites, among which there is the highly visited The Forks green space.
Outdoor and indoor opportunities are various and, yet, balanced in Winnipeg, in order to create an environment where you always have a second good choice for your free time. The Manitoba Theatre for Young People, the Esplanade Rei Bridge, the Shwa Park, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Winnipeg Public Library are only a few of the local touristic attractions.
Concert venues are also worth of a visit, even when events are not held. However, you also have the chance to visit some of the hotspots where a few Hollywood movies were filmed.
Festival du Voyageur is a large winter event, and one of the city’s entertainment highlights, along with Folklorama, The Jazz Winnipeg Festival, the Winnipeg Music Festival, the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival or the Winnipeg International Writers-Festival. But, if you wish to have a quiet evening, you may also spend it in a restaurant, pub or bar or even at home, admiring one of the spectacular snowfalls.
International atmosphere in Winnipeg
The city of Winnipeg is an international hotspot for students, tourists and business visitors and you may hear over 40 languages during your stay. The seventh largest city in Canada has a high population concentration and a significant number of Aboriginal inhabitants.
Other nationalities include Filipinos, but you may also meet Germans, Ukrainians, and others.
Weather Winnipeg
The climate in Winnipeg is one of the coolest in the world, including some spectacular winter beauties. Balanced in four seasons, the weather is concentrated on winter and summer, while spring and autumn are only transitional periods. Snowfall may last for almost six months, while on summer there might appear thunderstorms. For five months/year, temperatures are around 10°C (50°F), while, in January, they may reach a low level of -16.4°C (2.5°F).
