Den Haag city life
Den Haag or The Hague is an imposing and elegant city, that simply has it all: museums, green spaces, beach, an active night and city life.
Main places you can visit in Den Haag are:
- Binnenhof – the cultural centre of the city

Wander around and relax in a variety of parks and green spaces, such as Park Clingendael, Westbroekpark and more.
Check out De Passage, the country's first covered shopping mall or the Denneweg street, where you can find antique and specialty shops.
Around the Plein and the Buitenhof you will find several bars, pubs, cafés and clubs. Try the Indonesian and colonial Dutch-Indies cuisine served in the local restaurants.

Den Haag hosts many festivals and events like King's Day, Prinsjesdag (Prince's Day) – where the opening of the Dutch parliament takes place, Parkpop - every last Sunday of June, is a huge, free music festival.
Den Haag is close to the beach, so seize the sunny days and go to the Scheveningen beach, a popular spot for tourists and inhabitants alike.
Whenever you feel the need to change the air, you are only an hour away from Amsterdam and Utrecht, and around thirty minutes from Leiden and Rotterdam.
International atmosphere in Den Haag
Den Haag covers a large multicultural environment, due to the significant number of international students and because the city is home to many embassies and is one of the major cities hosting the United Nations. Den Haag is a unique place in The Netherlands where government agencies, international companies and foreign investors meet.
Several foreign residents (including expatriates) have chosen to live in the city; you will encounter a large "Indo" (mixed Dutch-Indonesian) community, Turks, Moroccans and Chinese.
Weather Den Haag
Located on the coast, Den Haag has slightly milder winter and summer temperatures than inland locations of The Netherlands. For the same reason, the city usually gets more sunshine. The average high temperatures in the summer are around 21 °C (70 °F) and in winter these range around 3 – 4 °C (38 – 39 °F). Snow is present in the winter and a significant amount of rainfall occurs during the whole year.
