Participants at RWTH Aachen University learn to present and quantify process-relevant material and energy flows as input or output variables in the various life stages of the product, process or service. You will be able to apply the Life Cycle Assessment tool for value added decisions for process optimization.

What you will study

In order to remain competitive in the climate policy environment and to take a leading role in environmental protection, many industrial companies must take decisive action to reduce their environmental impact. In order to identify suitable activities here, a comprehensive environmental assessment is required: The Life Cycle Assessment at RWTH Aachen University offers not only a generally accepted, but also extremely effective method.

Programme Structure

The program focuses on:

  • Different phases of the LCA
  • Their areas of application 
  • Independent implementation of life-cycle assessments 
  • Development of standardized methods for balancing in accordance with the DIN standard 
  • Interpretation of LCA analyzes and evaluation of potential for improvement

The Fundamentals of Life Cycle Assessment Certificate Course is aimed at engineers as well as project managers. You will particularly benefit from the course if you have at least one year of relevant professional experience and work in the fields of:
