To begin with you will learn the fundamental Art Direction skills. This will include the principles of visual communication, semiotics and the significance of analysing trends and campaign case studies. You will continue with an exercise in idea generation and development by making your own concept board. This will form the creative basis, from which you will successfully design and evaluate a campaign.
By undertaking practical exercises you will learn how to create concepts for photo-shoots and TV adverts. With expert advice and guidance from your tutors, you will receive valuable advice about working as a professional Art Director and discuss the ways in which the role changes across a variety of creative industries.
At the end of the Art Direction course at the University of the Arts London (UAL), you will have learnt the skills and principles of Art Direction and be able to effectively respond a client brief. You will have developed your confidence in generating creative ideas and communicating these visually in a successful, unique and professional manner.
