Modbus is a serial communication which enables communication among many devices connected to the same network. It is an open protocol, hence has become a standard communications protocol in industry.
It is used widely by many vendors throughout many industries. Modbus protocol applies the master–slave principle even though the network communication method is peer–to–peer.
