This General English course from Regent's University London is a communicative English language course teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking skills as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.  

Overview

Classes of the General English course from Regent's University London are practical, fun and engaging with a focus on task-based activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving and an understanding of British culture.  

You’ll do much more than complete worksheets: you’ll practise your presentation skills, learn to write professional and personal emails and talk to classmates about topics relevant to you. 

Outside the classroom, our weekly Conversation Club offers the chance to improve your fluency and boost your confidence by mixing with other students. 

Plus, informal class trips take you on walking tours to London’s top sights, like the River Thames, where you’ll test your language skills through mini challenges as you explore the city. 

This course is for you if you: 

  • Are looking for a full-time (15 hours per week) course 
  • Want to improve your reading, writing, listening, speaking skills in a classroom setting 
  • Are interested in joining extra-curricular activities provided by Regent’s* 
  • Want to take advantage of the University’s facilities – library, study areas, café 
This course is available at four levels as defined by the CEFR – the Common European Framework for Reference: 
  • A2 (pre-intermediate) 
  • B1 (intermediate) 
  • B2 (upper-intermediate) 
  • C1 (advanced) 

Your level will be tested at the start of the course. 

Personal support

You’ll learn in a supportive, personalised environment where staff and students get to know each other by name.  

All students take a placement test on their first day, followed by regular progress tests. English teachers give continuous feedback and regular one-to-one tutorials are available.

General requirements

  • Before joining, your level of English should be A2 (pre-intermediate) at a minimum. We offer a free, informal interview as a form of assessment
  • You will be asked to provide a copy of your passport and pay a deposit fee. Once we’ve received your deposit fee, you will receive a course acceptance letter (and a visa letter, if applicable). You will be asked to make a full payment at least two weeks prior to the start of the course.
