About

This online Garden Centre Management course from Warnborough College is an extensive tour of all areas involved in managing a garden centre. One of the main purposes of this course is to train garden centre management staff in order for to be able to run a successful business.

Overview

Garden Centres can be any size – large or small, and the variation of plants which they sell can be broad or narrow. A garden centre sometimes also sell other products that are relevant to a garden, and complement the plants which they stock.

Designed originally in conjunction with a garden department manager of a major retail chain store, this Garden Centre Management course from Warnborough College has been very successful in training both staff and managers of retail nurseries and garden centres across the world. It continues to be updated at least annually, and continues to be used by small nurseries through to major chain stores across the country.

  • Classify and identify a wide range of plants, based on their botanical characteristics
  • Describe various plant health problems and their appropriate treatments
  • Understand the importance of maintaining healthy stock and why it is vital in order to maintain a profitable business
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a wide selection of garden products sold through garden centres
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a range of plants, including indoor plants, container-grown plants, deciduous plants, bulbs, herbs and perennials. Describe effective marketing techniques
  • Demonstrate knowledge of management procedures
