About

Supporting your mental health during the coronavirus outbreak with Managing Mental Health and Stress at Coventry University delivered through FutureLearn.

Overview

Our mental health is as important as our physical health, and it can fluctuate on a spectrum from good to poor. Work-related stress and mental health problems often go together and the symptoms can be very similar.

In Managing Mental Health and Stress at Coventry University by FutureLearn, you will have the opportunity to discuss the definitions of mental health and stress, and explore how to recognise the key signs.

Key facts:

  • We will focus on the cost of mental health problems and workplace stress at both individual and organisational levels.
  • We’ll also assess interventions to combat workplace stress and the value of performance coaching and its impact upon employee wellbeing.

Programme Structure

Topics include:

  • What is poor mental health?
  • What is stress?
  • Theories and models of stress
  • Measuring stress
  • The three levels of interventions (ie primary, secondary, tertiary) by Murphy (1988)
