Overview
You’ll learn the basic structures of French along with key vocabulary needed to describe places, find your way around, explain personal and work routines and plans, and how to respond to invitations. This course will also increase your awareness of the culture of France and other French-speaking countries.
After successfully completing this Beginners French 3 course at The Open University UK, you will receive a digital badge. This can be shared on social media, added to email signatures or act as a certificate.

Programme Structure
In Beginners French 3: absolument! you will learn how to:
- ask for, understand and give directions in town
- find your way around a building
- understand and explain what is allowed and not allowed
- talk about distances and locations
- describe places
- get around using public transport
- talk about daily routines
- describe your job and your professional responsibilities
- tell the time and talk about months and seasons
- talk about work routines and employment patterns
- talk about current, future and recent activity
- discuss plans and intentions
- make, accept and decline invitations.
Learning a language is also learning about culture, so you will discover information about public buildings, museums, townscapes and transport in France, places to eat and the changing eating habits in the French-speaking world. You’ll also learn about work routines and conditions of employment in France. On top of this, you will discover Montréal, the largest French-speaking city in Canada.
