Overview

Competency in Industrial Internet of Things at Engineering Institute of Technology would equip the participants with a solid theoretical foundation and strong practical skills in the IoT Platform and System Design. The course is divided into twelve modules and will start with simple examples and will integrate the techniques using which participants can design and build an actual IoT system. The participants are expected to actively engage in discussions and work innovatively on assignments.

IoT provides advanced data collection, connectivity, and analysis of information collected by computers everywhere – taking the concepts of machine-to-machine communication farther than ever before. The growing need for pervasive connectivity, storage, and computation has resulted in the growth of different IoT solutions. Therefore, it is very important to learn the fundamentals of this emerging technology. IoT is already a critical part of industry 4.0 and hence the participants must be able to understand other technologies that can be integrated along with it, so as to improve application efficiency. Proactiveness and creativity are the key attitudes expected from the participants.

Upon completion of this Professional Certificate, students will be able to:

  • Make design trade-offs between hardware and software
  • Work with key components of networking that can connect various devices to the Internet
  • Implement communication between smart phones and home appliances
  • Use Android device to perform functions such as sensing light, heat, GPS tracking, or providing a user-interface display
  • Use Python-based IDE (integrated development environments) for the Raspberry Pi and how to trace and debug Python code on the device
