Overview

Competency in Vibration Analysis, Balancing, Alignment, Predictive and Precision Maintenance of Machinery at Engineering Institute of Technology   provides a detailed examination of the detection, location and diagnosis of faults in rotating and reciprocating machinery using vibration analysis. The basics and underlying physics of vibration signals are first examined. The acquisition and processing of signals is reviewed followed by a discussion of machinery fault diagnosis using vibration analysis, and rectifying the unidentified faults.

The important topic of balancing is then discussed drawing on practical examples. Alignment and other machinery faults are then covered. Other often neglected areas of particle and chemical analysis, temperature monitoring and failure analysis are covered in practical detail. The course is concluded with a set of practical rules for a precision maintenance program including issues such as machines to monitor, managing the data usefully and scheduling maintenance.

Certification

To obtain a certificate of completion for EIT’s Professional Certificate of Competency course, students must achieve a 65% attendance rate at the live, online weekly webinars.  Detailed summaries or notes can be submitted in lieu of attendance.  In addition, students must obtain an overall 50% marks in the set assessments which are a practical assessment and a proctored exam. Students must obtain a minimum 40% marks in proctored exam to pass this course. Students must also obtain a mark of 100% in weekly quizzes. If a student does not achieve the required score, resubmission/re-attempt opportunity is given only in the practical assessment and the weekly quizzes, not in the exam.
