Overview
In this Shoe Making - The Boot course at the University of the Arts London (UAL) you'll be taken through foot anatomy in relation to the size fitting system and be introduced to a choice of contemporary last and heel options to construct your boot. You'll have a choice between making a men's or women's Chelsea boot, or a women's high leg zipped boot.
Once you have chosen your style, you'll move onto creating a pattern, before being shown how to cut and sectionalize all the individual pieces of the patterns. The tutor will demonstrate the skills needed to identify the different upper materials and hand cutting techniques as well as explaining the many methods of shaping, forming and stitching involved in constructing a completed pair of boots.
