The Foundation Course degree at Tor Vergata University of Rome is aimed at international students who have completed High school but do not have the minimum 12 years of schooling required to enroll in an Italian University, and/or the qualification required in their country to enroll in a University. The course is also intended for those who wish to improve their background and linguistic skills even if they have the minimum 12 years of schooling.

General requirements
The requirements for admission to the Foundation Course are:
- High school leaving certificate
- Statement of comparability of the final qualification issued by CIMEA or, alternatively the Declaration of value issued by the Italian Diplomatic Representative abroad with the official Italian translation and legalization of the diploma.
- A valid ID or passport
- A valid residency permit (only for non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy) or visa.
- Knowledge of English and Italian language not lower than level B1.
