About the course
- By introducing a series of alternative photographic processes, using the photographic image as a starting point, the Alternative Photographic Processes course at the University of the Arts London (UAL) will examine and demonstrate the choices and print methods available that go towards producing tangible pieces of work.
- By underlining the interaction between image and base material, new processes are explored, and creative departures encouraged.
Programme Structure
Topics covered:- Liquid photographic emulsions: Will be used in the darkroom with art papers, canvas and glass.
- Cyanotype printing: Learn how to carefully control contrast when creating both analogue and digital negatives.
- Van Dyke printing: Learn how to create a beautiful permanent image on both paper and fabric.
- UV Reactive Dyes: Learn how to create permanent multi coloured prints on paper and fabric.
- Digital negatives: Take advantage of modern technology and learn how to create a custom curve in Photoshop and print onto acetate in a specific colour to fine tune your final image.
