Overview
The Modern Art Theory through Practice course structure at the University of the Arts London (UAL) will consist of a series of short introductory lectures on Modern and Contemporary ideas, followed by practical workshops in response to issues raised. Through this process you will create a research journal both in class and in response to your experience of exhibition visits.
About the course
- You will get a view of the London art world, visiting some of London's art galleries and museums, as well as less well known and alternative art spaces, framed around a set of references that begin to ask questions of what art is and what is it for.
- This journal can become an integral part of your portfolio demonstrating your understanding of the art world and contemporary art theory. It will also demonstrate where you have found inspiration, the development of your ideas and how your work relates to that of existing artists.
