About the course

While experiencing works of art at first hand, the aim is to provide a stimulating and enjoyable introduction to some of the most significant eras in western art from the Renaissance to the late 19th century.

Students will hopefully leave the Introduction to Approaches in History of Art course at the University of the Arts London (UAL) with a greater awareness of different art historical approaches to the subject and most importantly an increased pleasure in looking at art.

Programme Structure

What you will learn:

  • With the emphasis on really looking and group discussion, the course is both intended as a foundation for those considering further study in this area as well for those who enjoy art and would simply like to know more.
