Overview
The majority of class time is devoted to working in the darkroom and building printing techniques. There will also be weekly assignments and lectures on historical and contemporary artwork that explore the technical and aesthetic possibilities of photography.
Outcomes
- By the end of the Black and White Photography - Darkroom course at the University of the Arts London (UAL) you will have learnt new processes and discovered different ways of creating images by experimenting and making mistakes.
- You will have lots of photographs, a keen eye, and gained enough confidence to continue working in a darkroom.

Who is this course for?
- You are a complete beginner
- You have experience using digital cameras, but want to explore using film and printing in a B&W darkroom.
Materials
- Ideally, you should bring your own film camera to use, although the CSM photography department has 35mm SLR’s that could be used for the duration of the course.
