Overview
About the course
- What makes Non-Fungible Tokens valuable and desirable? Why did Justin Bieber pay nearly US$1.8m on digital images of 2 Bored Apes when anyone can simply ‘right click, save’ them for free?
- To answer these questions and make sense of the NFT phenomenon, this Introduction to Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) for Creatives, Collectors and the Curious course at Singapore Management University delves into concepts of fungibility and non-fungibility, digital and token ownership, and the significance of value and status.
- As a new and emerging asset class, NFTs are also fraught with risks which we shall examine. Paul Graham, venture capitalist of Y-Combinator fame, tweeted “you’re inviting history to make a fool of you if you dismiss NFTs”.
