What you will learn
After completing The Swedish Education System course offered by Dalarna University, students will be able to:
- demonstrate familiarity with preschool and Swedish schools, both primary and secondary, their organisation and governance,
- demonstrate knowledge of the core values and democratic objectives in the Swedish curriculum,
- demonstrate a level of knowledge about teacher training in Sweden,
- compare compulsory and non-compulsory schooling and its organisation and governance in Sweden with schooling in their own country.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Swedish education for children and adolescents
- the importance of democracy for Swedish schools
- work with children with special needs
- the use of information technology in education
- education at different levels in the student’s own country compared to education in Sweden
In the course, Swedish teacher education is treated historically with teacher education at Högskolan Dalarna as an example.
