Key facts
The Civic Engagement and Sustainable Development summer school offered by University of Malaya is a flexible 2-week program where participants will work in facilitated groups to discuss cross-cutting issues, engage in interactive group work and prepare for a student-led forum at the end of the program. Participants will also attend online modules with speakers covering various modules in line with the theme. It will focus on a student-led workshop and forum which allows students to discuss and explore different aspects of the theme in a multicultural setting with participants from Asia and Europe.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Identify and explain the role of youths in society through various civic engagement and sustainable development activities in the Asian and European regions.
- Compare, differentiate, or critique issues which serve as barriers to civic engagement and sustainable development in the Asian and European region and beyond.
- Demonstrate awareness of different cultures, heritage values and the roles of youth and millennials in fostering harmony through the appreciation of their roles and their ability to change communities and societies through various civic engagement activities.
