Overview
What you will study
The Robotics System Design and Development course offered by Singapore University of Technology and Design equips participants with necessary skills and knowledge to design, develop, integrate and evaluate robots for domain specific applications.
Key topics covered include mechanisms, perception, actuators, autonomy, and application specific robots. The team-based design project is centred on application development for an autonomous mobile robot. Application driven hardware and software development exercises are covered as part of the design project.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants can expect to:
- Evaluate robotics technologies and enabling capabilities for specialized applications
- Design system architecture and workflow for robot deployments
- Construct power train mechanisms for robot locomotion
- Integrate perception and actuation systems onboard a robotic platform
- Model autonomy behaviours for fully automated robot operation
- Compose software codes to synthesize desired robot behaviours
- Create a complete robotic system to solve a real world application
- Negotiate design variables to optimize robot performance
