The Summer Session in Japanese Language offered at Sophia University is a 3-week session tailored for students who want to start learning as beginners and for those who wish to improve their Japanese language abilities in an intensive program.

Structure:
- In the Summer Session in Japanese Language, various class levels will be offered to match each student’s proficiency level in Japanese – from beginner, intermediate, advanced intermediate, to advanced level.
- To further enhance the effectiveness of Japanese language acquisition, students will have opportunities to practice their language skills and experience the various culture through events and activities outside of class.

General requirements
An applicant must:
- Be a current student or graduate of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree program outside of Japan. Students from high schools or community colleges that do not have the authority to confer degrees equivalent to undergraduate level degrees in Japan are not eligible for this program.
- Have completed at least a semester at the home university by the time of application. This applies only to an applicant who is currently a student.
Required documents:
- An official Academic Transcript and a Grading Scale from the applicant’s home institution. If the official transcript is not written in English, please attach an English translation to the original transcript.
- Passport Copy
- TTBJ (Tsukuba Test – Battery of Japanese) Score Report
