• an informed understanding of the basic process of manufacturing an underground bulk emulsion explosive and its uses in the underground mining environment.

• a thorough  understanding of advanced commercial explosives properties

• a comprehensive understanding of commercial explosives in terms of their strengths and performance.

• a thorough understanding of how detonating energy effects the rock breaking process.

• basic knowledge and understanding of basic geology and the ability to calculate the different rock properties while explaining how it will relate to the rock breaking process.

• a thorough understanding of the various specialised blasting techniques used in the underground & surface mining fields

• a basic understanding of the blast modelling software and its applications.
