What you will study

The Mastering Business Leadership course offered by North-West University (NWU) has been intentionally designed to decrease the timeframe by which delegates will build the required leadership competence.

On completion of the course, the participant should be able to demonstrate:

• The ability to identify and select personal strengths within the field of self-awareness and reflection to leverage these individual strengths.

• Detailed knowledge and clear understanding of a deeper awareness of self and how to tap into the power of their personal S.T.O.R.Y.

• Deeper knowledge and clearer understanding of their strengths and explore how these strengths can be leveraged to benefit themselves and others.

• Deeper self-awareness of what motivates them.

• Insight into the origin and development of personal effectiveness regarding the practice of getting things done and delivering results.

• The ability to effectively develop and implement leadership tactics to consistently enter the optimal leadership zone.

• Clear understanding of prevalent schools of thought that determined progress within the way how other people see the world.

• Clear understanding of how the brain governs social behaviour and triggers positive emotions within a team.

• The ability to effectively apply psychological preferences with a view to expanding the repertoire of responses to different situations.

• Insight into positioning teams based on areas of strengths.

• Detailed knowledge and clear understanding of employee motivation, improved performance and improved the bottom line.

• Clear understanding of interactive behaviours used by successful leaders to engage in productive conversations.

• Clear understanding of how to prepare for important conversations in a manner that engages the target audience and achieves the desired results.

• The ability to effectively implement and apply meetings as an effective communication tool, leading them in a relevant, inclusive and timely manner.

• The ability to identify, analyse and select the most appropriate method to better understand each team member.

• The ability to determine own blind spots and areas of improvement, and select the best possible solution to address such an issue to harness the team’s collective intelligence.

• The ability to effectively apply the Left | Right | Left approach with a view to problem-solving.

• Detailed knowledge and a clear understanding of the four cornerstones for building a high degree of business acumen.

• Detailed knowledge and a clear understanding of the difference between the science and the art of developing a high performing organisation.

• Detailed knowledge and a clear understanding of the expertise to create an implementable and robust strategic plan while being empowered with a template to get their team to execute the plan.

• Insight into the origin and development of the requirements for delivering a message that others can catch and run with.

• The ability to effectively apply a storyboard with a view to visually communicate the desired message in an engaging manner.

• The ability to effectively move beyond communication to the realm of connection.
