About

The Concept Selection, Wave Hydrodynamics and Stability Analysis of Floating Solar System course offered by University Teknologi PETRONAS covers the development of the fundamental equations of fluid mechanics and their applications for marine hydrodynamics (floating solar system) and the application of these principles to the solution of engineering problems.

Overview

What you will study

Topics of the Concept Selection, Wave Hydrodynamics and Stability Analysis of Floating Solar System course offered by University Teknologi PETRONAS include the principles of conservation of mass, momentum and energy, lift and drag forces, laminar and turbulent flows, dimensional analysis, added mass, and linear surface waves, including wave velocities, propagation phenomena, and descriptions of real sea waves. Wave forces on structures are treated in the context of design and basic seakeeping analysis of floating offshore solar farms.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • To understand new energy, floating solar farms systems and the rational for the appropriate concept selections for calm water and offshore applications.
  • Understand and apply the physics and mathematics involved in the description of regular and irregular water waves. This knowledge is part of detailed design and analyses of Floating solar farms.
  • To Learn how to perform global hydrodynamic response analysis, transfer loads to structural analysis, and stability analysis of floating solar units.

Programme Structure

The program focuses on:
  • New Energy & concept selection of Floating Solar system
  • Physics and mathematics involved in the description of regular and irregular water waves.
  • Wave structures Interactions.
  • Global hydrodynamic response analysis, transfer loads, and stability analysis of floating solar systems
