Overview
What you will study
- The first lecture of the Security in the Digital Age course offered by University of Oxford offers a broad overview of the implications of the digital revolution on international security, exploring areas such as crime, sabotage and surveillance.
- The second lecture examines the revolutionary impact cyber is having on espionage, and compares and contrasts traditional and digital methods of espionage, as well as how the two can function together.
- The third lecture focuses on cyber-warfare, exploring how impactful hacking can be during conflicts. This lecture explores the history of cyber warfare, as well as the implications of the Russia-Ukraine war.
- The final lecture explores cyber-terrorism, briefly examining the impact of digital technology on propaganda, financing, recruitment and operations. Ultimately, this lecture assesses whether terrorists may be able to damage property, or harm people, exclusively through digital means in the near-future.
