Overview
What you will study
Perhaps you align yourself with the notion that chemistry and poetry can only partially describe the world around us when pursued on their own? The Chemistry and Poetry course offered by University of Oxford will explore the exciting combination of both these disciplines in this day school, and we will study the work of example chemist-poets and poet-chemists. Perhaps you think of poetry and the chemistry as two different languages? We will explore how they can both inform and help each other!
Students will be encouraged to craft poems using molecular themes of interest (no specialised scientific knowledge will be required). The tutor will demonstrate with some published examples from his own work. Space will be assigned to workshop-style sessions to facilitate discussion and the inventive process. Consequently, students will be able to produce pieces of work to take home and reflect upon.
