Overview
The International Field Work program's extended field stays are unique among international affairs programs in the United States. In the course of nine weeks, students work and conduct research with community-based organizations, NGOs, international organizations, and government agencies.
Features
The topics range from community development, policy advocacy, citizen journalism, and post-conflict state-building to urban planning and long-term monitoring and evaluation.
The faculty-led, customized programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students from The New School and other universities as well as continuing education professionals in the United States and around the world.
Programme Structure

- Access to a wide network of on-the-ground collaborations with academics, NGO professionals, community activists, and government agencies relevant to the issues being examined
- Critical engagement with current international debates and practices in relation to social and economic rights, urban and community development, new media and technology, environmental justice, migration and refugees, governance, conflict, and peacebuilding, guided by dedicated IFP faculty, prominent scholars, and leading experts
