Overview
What you will study
The Earth Materials, Environment, and Energy Resources course offered by Athabasca University considers Earth’s place in the solar system and the composition of Earth. You will explore geological processes, the plate tectonics theory, Earth’s energy profile, Canada’s energy future, and the environmental effects of energy exploitation. You will learn to identify minerals/rocks as well as explain the origin and composition of earth material.
Through a series of self-guided course materials such as readings, interactive activities, and videos, you will understand the interactions of humans and earth material and discuss the effects of resource exploitation on the environment. You will also identify energy resources central to modern economies.
