What you will study
The Longitudinal Program in Teaching Skills course offered by Johns Hopkins University includes workshops led by experienced faculty facilitators who combine interactive didactics on specific teaching skills and curriculum development skills with practical exercises designed to promote self-reflection and application of taught concepts to the faculty learners’ educational work.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Articulate why a scholarly and systematic approach to curriculum development is beneficial.
- Describe the six-steps of curriculum development and the importance of congruence among them.
- Recognize additional resources that are available for curriculum development skills improvement.
- Implement strategies for facilitation and learning

- Foster small group participation, leadership and process.
- Succeed in academia as a scholarly educator.
- Employ motivation and empowerment techniques to encourage active learning.
- Apply skills in leadership and management, cultural competence, conflict management, and formalized brainstorming in teaching.
