Overview
Key facts
University College London (UCL)'s Progressing Painting - Ideas, Strategies and Solutions (Summer School Short Course) course aims to help you:
- develop your work through discussion with fellow students and tutors
- expand your knowledge of artists and artworks
- engage with a new artist community
The course runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day. You'll also have the option of attending extra-curricular events such as talks and exhibitions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Programme Structure
- At the start of the course you'll present an idea for a new body of work, which will evolve throughout the two weeks. You'll show your work in development at a group exhibition at the end of the course.
- Each tutor will run a practical workshop outlining a strategy they use in their own practice, to help you develop your visual research. These workshops will cover the basics, such as colour and form, and the more experimental concepts of chance and collaboration.
- You'll take part in one-to-one tutorials, group critiques and reading groups. These will run alongside visits to an artist's studio and a guided tour of a museum.
