- Birmingham City University's Effective Diabetes Care For Pregnancy module recognises the importance of practitioners working with women with all types of diabetes, in planning, managing, delivering and evaluating effective evidence based diabetes care before, during and after pregnancy.
- The risks of pregnancy in diabetes for the mother and baby and the reasons for the adverse outcomes will be critically examined with reference to national and international evidence and guidelines for practice.
- Diabetes occurring during pregnancy is becoming increasing more prevalent and the escalating public health risk of gestational diabetes is recognised.
