Overview
What you will study
This Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound course offered by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) focuses on blending the theoretical components with practical workshop sessions.
You'll finish the course with a good knowledge of the fundamentals of ultrasound image optimisation. And you'll understand the impact that individual ultrasound competencies can have on diagnostic potential. At the end of day 3, you'll have the opportunity to undertake a clinical ultrasound assessment. You'll be able to test your confidence in demonstrating newly acquired PoCUS knowledge and skills.You'll learn from an expert team of sonographers and emergency physicians. All staff have extensive clinical experience and proven teaching skills, they teach with a relaxed but informative style.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Focussed assessment for free fluid (FAFF)/Focussed assessment with sonography in trauma (FAST) – abdominal and thoracic
- Focussed assessment for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
- Echo in life support
- Ultrasound-guided IV access
