Overview
What you will study
The Management of Asthma and COPD course offered by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) prepares practitioners to work with greater autonomy in this field and will equip them with the knowledge and skill to take responsibility for leading and influencing the development of the management of asthma and COPD in primary care settings.
The module will be of particular interest to practice nurses, nurse practitioners, district nurses, prison nurses, community matrons, case managers with a focus on respiratory medicine.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and management to meet the specific needs of individuals with Asthma and COPD.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy & physiology to the care of individuals with (i) Asthma and (ii) COPD.
- Critically analyse your role and that of the multi-disciplinary team in the management of asthma & COPD and demonstrate a working appreciation of collaboration.
- Critically examine national initiatives, guidelines and contemporary research and apply this theoretical knowledge to the clinical management of patients.
