What you will study
The Management of Volunteers course offered by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) aims to:
- Equip the student with practical skills for the effective management of volunteers
- Explore the ethics relating to the deployment of volunteers
- Examine volunteering for people from disadvantaged, minority, or marginalised groups
- To provide the student with a working knowledge of health and safety legislation, rights and responsibilities.
On successful completion of this module a student will be able to:
- Discuss in detail the policies and practices of volunteering and volunteer development Apply leadership skills in a community setting.
- Take personal responsibility and follow professional codes of conduct incorporating a critical ethical dimension into various aspects of work relating to volunteer management and development
- Lead a team of peers taking responsibility for managing risk in a community project
- Critically reflect on feedback from others and challenge received opinion
