What you will study

The aim of this Venepuncture workshop offered by The University of Lancashire is to develop both theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in order to perform venepuncture safely and efficiently.

Programme Structure

By the end of the workshops participants will:

  • Understand the relevant anatomy and physiology of the venous system
  • Understand the professional issues surrounding venepuncture
  • Understand the principles of venepuncture – recognising correct technique, procedure and the management of such an intervention
  • Gain the ability to perform the venepuncture technique within a simulated environment

  • This study day is suitable for practitioners whose role includes: venepuncture including district nurses, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, specialist nurses, community staff nurses, community matrons, prison nurses, mental health nurses and assistants, A&E nurses, primary care nurses, secondary care nurses, newly qualified RNs, nurses and HCAs working in nursing homes, residential homes and EMI units, health care assistants, assistant practitioners, phlebotomists, other AHPs and some GP surgery staff looking to be trained in this procedure.
