- Spend a summer at the Language Schools and you’ll experience the single most effective method for rapid language acquisition: a total immersion environment with the Language Pledge®—a promise to read, write, listen, and speak only in your language of study.
- Middlebury Institute of International Studies' School of Abenaki launched in the summer of 2020. Our 2-week program is drawn from the Abenaki speaking community as well as beginner level students who are passionate about learning Abenaki language and culture.
Programme Structure
- This course sequence is designed for students with no previous instruction or functional ability in Abenaki. Students are exposed to intensive instruction to develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

General requirements
Please provide official transcripts, either emailed from your registrar or sealed in an envelope. We require an official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended, whether or not you studied a foreign language. If you are a first-term college student, submit an official transcript from your high school as well as a registration report of the courses that you are taking now. Transcripts are not required for Classical Hebrew, Hebrew for Lifelong Learners, or the English Language School.
