Overview
Key facts
Chinese fan dance or the round fan dance originates from the ancient Chinese court. With a Chinese classical charm, this dance shows the implicit beauty and noble and elegant temperament of women. Round fan dance uses elements of Chinese classical dance movements, absorbing nutrients from traditional Chinese opera.
Chinese ribbon dance is another ancient traditional Chinese art form that incorporates silk ribbon into the dancer's movements. This form of dance was so highly regarded and considered so beautiful that dancers would be requested to perform this type of dance to emperors.
Goldsmiths, University of London offers the Chinese Ribbon and Fan Dance programme.
