About

Goldsmiths, University of London's  Chinese Ribbon and Fan Dance10-week course will give students an introduction to the Chinese art of Ribbon dance and fan dance. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Chinese dance.

Overview

Key facts

Chinese fan dance or the round fan dance originates from the ancient Chinese court. With a Chinese classical charm, this dance shows the implicit beauty and noble and elegant temperament of women. Round fan dance uses elements of Chinese classical dance movements, absorbing nutrients from traditional Chinese opera.

Chinese ribbon dance is another ancient traditional Chinese art form that incorporates silk ribbon into the dancer's movements. This form of dance was so highly regarded and considered so beautiful that dancers would be requested to perform this type of dance to emperors.

Goldsmiths, University of London offers the Chinese Ribbon and Fan Dance programme.

Programme Structure

  • The curriculum for this unique 10-week online short course was created by our resident dance teacher and graduate of the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy in China.
