Overview
Through practical exercises, you will develop a strong understanding of the software’s interface and explore different methods for inputting and editing music notation. You will also learn how to manage score layout, work with text and formatting tools, and prepare your scores for professional printing.
Outcomes
By the end of the Sibelius - Fundamentals of Notation course at Middlesex University, you will be able to navigate and understand the Sibelius interface, create scores with various instrumentations, input and edit notes and rhythms, work with MIDI content and selections, add and format text, and prepare scores for printing. You will also be ready to take the Avid Certified/Sibelius Specialist exam.
Programme Structure
Structure:
- Led by a fully certified trainer, the course takes you through each chapter of the Sibelius programme and equips you with the skills needed to work confidently in the software and prepare for the assessment.
- On the final day, you’ll sit a one-hour practical exam. If you don’t pass on your first attempt, you’ll have two further opportunities to retake the exam at a later date, giving you time to prepare.
